You must be wondering about the topic of this filmmaking blog, that what is it, a blog topic or a question? Well, it is a question actually which is asked to all of you but will be answered by me, sounds interesting, right? Well, to know the importance of Indie movies we must at first know what is Indie film, isn’t it? So let us just begin with that. An independent film is one that is made with reality, with the liberty of free thoughts. Independent movies are not based on the demands of box office tantrums they have the freedom of thinking beyond imagination.
Indie movies relate you to real life:
As I have already mentioned Independent filmmakers are creative people from working in different fields. They believe in quality and originality than publicity. They are not bothered about big box-office success; they are much more focused on producing a realistic and creative masterpiece. Independent movies can penetrate deep down to your nerves and stir you up with their storyline; they have such powerful creativity within themselves. An Independent filmmaker makes the movie with all his passion, real-life experience, deeper thoughts, and creativity (this term acts as a substitute for Independent film; at least for me). And this is what gives independent movies a new dimension that commercial movies can never imagine. Commercial films are made with an urge to earn money irrespective of whatever the content is. However, an Indie filmmaker always focuses on the content before money. Yes, of course, they also make a movie to earn but suppressing one’s creativity for the sake of earning is not on the go.
Unity in diversity:
The Indie film community is much united. Being smaller in number, they reflect a real sense of unity and communal harmony among each other. You can even communicate with them by attending film festivals or by simply contacting them on their social pages, they are very much responsive. You can even share your own ideas and thoughts and if they find them worthy, they will definitely give your words the scope to share the screen. Another great thing that we can notice in this community is gender equality. We often notice those Female directors are left behind in the mainstream commercial movies. However, the Indie film community does not look down upon. Here the female artists get equal scope if she is capable of it.
Breeding ground for promising talents:
Independent movies have so far given the much-needed break to many deserving actors who are now working in big banners as well. Thus, Indie movies have been the promising ground for upcoming talents. It also proves that Indie films are noticed throughout the world.
So, do we have enough reasons to give importance to Indie films now? I guess it will be a “YES” from your end too. Now it is your turn to prove its importance. Watch indie movies and you will find a new dimension to this creative world. It’s like watching your own life in someone else’s eyes. It’s magical, Indie movies are really magical.
